Prevent Home Damage With Properly Installed Flashing

The purpose of flashing is to keep water from going onto or into an area where it could cause problems or damage to your home. There are different types of flashing used for various concerns.

Chattahoochee Gutter Co has a number of gutter flashing systems available.

Eave Metal Flashing

One of the most important components of a gutter system is eave metal flashing. Irregular shingle and roof situations can become the major cause of water damage to fascia boards and eaves. Eave flashing solves this issue.

Flashing is a strip of aluminum that is formed to the roof angle and gets installed under the shingles. It turns down over the inside back of the gutter, providing a positive water flow from the roof to the gutter.

We recommend flashing be used with any and all gutter installations.

We can use flashing that is already installed on the house or we can make new flashing and install it. Flashing prevents water from wicking back to the fascia board, as well as behind the gutter in situations where shingles are broken, too short, or curled under.

Please note that our warranty does not cover water running behind the gutter if there is no eave metal flashing.

Valley Flashing

Valley flashing is a “V”-shaped metal structure placed where two roofs meet at an angle forming a valley. The flashing is put down on the joint of the roof and shingles are placed over the edges of it. Its purpose is to keep water from seeping through the joint where the two roofs meet.

Wall Flashing

Our wall flashing consists of an “L”-shaped piece of metal in varying lengths that is placed where a roof and an upper story wall of a house meet. The roof shingles are laid over the bottom edge of the wall flashing. This keeps water from seeping into the wall of the house.
